After eleven years living, dancing, teaching tango, and writing in Buenos Aires, I came home to L.A. in 2014, where I'm reconstructing my life.

10 Perfect Days in Buenos Aires

My son Jason and friend Connie just left after a 10 day visit. They had so much fun, and Ruben and me too, that more than just showing photos of "a great time with the kids," their itinerary would be fab vacation ideas for anyone visiting Buenos Aires. De todos modos, please indulge me.

Here are the highlights:

Airport Arrival

Empanadas--handmade

and exotic flavors delivered to our door

Tango Lessons

Shopping in the Gallerias Pacificas

and for Tango Shoes

Lunch at Cafe Tortoni with the Greats

Dancing at the Milonga de los Consagrados

Studying Castellano on the Terrace

A Day in La Boca and Caminito

A Tango Show at La Ventana

La Biela

Recoleta Cemetery

Feria de Mataderos

San Telmo

Ojo de bife by the river at Cabaña Las Lilas

Three Days in La Delta de Tigre

and Family Time

What a handsome son and you look waaay too young to have a "child" that age !
Great photos and I like the way you "told" about the visit .. perfecto~

We just had relatives visiting for 10 days also .. I am longing to see my son and daughter in law. Living here makes us pretty attractive as far as visiting goes, doesn't it ? :)

Your photos are great, Cherie! I can tell how much you relished your visit. :)

By the way, I love the pic of the cow that says "Estoy jugoso"! Too funny!

Just curious - how was the food at Cabaña Las Lilas?

Yeah, I'm still basking.

Actually, I've lived here for 7 years and this was the first time anyone came to visit me--by that I mean my kids (I have an older son too) and my non-tango-dancing friends. So I was ready and thankful.

Thanks, C., for your piropo!! :)

Katie, Cabaña was excellent, but for the price (wowee!!), you could do better elsewhere. Ruben was traumatized by the menu and ate very little, even though, or especially because, we were invited. Honestly, there are restaurants less touristy and less expensive elsewhere with just as good food.

I have heard that about Cabaña so many times lately.

7 years... we have lived here 3, just got our Permanent Residency so we are smiling quite a lot lol...

Oh de nada, it is true ! :)

That's what I'd heard about Las Lilas too. I took my parents to La Cabrera, and we enjoyed the meal there, but I prefer the less touristy restaurants. We should head to a neighborhood parrilla the next time I'm up in BsAs, Cherie. :)

Congrats on your residency, NFAB (if I may call you that!).

C, I went to La Cabrera a couple of years ago with my Mexican friend Nelly and we both got food poisoning, no kidding. It was summertime and hot and I think they are not careful with those little side dishes. No matter--never again.

I think the less famous places are always better, don't you?

Katie, the next time you come to BsAs Ruben will make an asado for you here! Just let us know when!
