But maybe we have got the terminology wrong in terms of milonga and practica, so I might have to change that.

Well, let me know what you think of the place (I have never been myself - as I have said before, I don't have a huge interest in Tango).

Best,

AlanAlan Patrickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02010150251459844577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23522785.post-89864202306886647052007-07-03T10:27:00.000-07:002007-07-03T10:27:00.000-07:00Hi Alan,So great to meet you the other day, and in...Hi Alan,

So great to meet you the other day, and in fact, I want everybody to come to Boedo for an Empanada Tucumana Blogger Fest, what do you think? Maybe during the week for lunch??

Anyway, about Cochabamba, I was somewhat surprised to see a post saying this is the "real milonga" of Buenos Aires, etc., because -- and I have never been there mind you but plan to check it out this Thursday -- it really isn't. It's more of a practica than a milonga, and that's why I haven't gone.

In fact, there is no "real" milonga in San Telmo, one where the milongueros go to dance. There's a milonga at the Dandi Hotel, El Indio's at the Plazs Dorrego, and then, the most "real" in San Telmo is Los Bohemios, which is a club de barrio, where the people all know each other, eat dinner, and no one really dances that well.

The most authentic and well-known milongas in the heart of Buenos Aires are those in Gricel, Club Region Leonesa, Chique, Canning, La Ideal, Maipu 444, El Beso, Porteno y Bailarin, La Viruta (for the kids), Viejo Correo, and Lo de Celia.

A lot of people would probably argue with this list and what is "real," but after dancing tango here for ten years and seeing milongas come and go, that's my opinion. I'll let you know if I change my mind on thursday! :)

I'll also let Cookie Monster know if they have cookies!tangocheriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10012220622641996877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23522785.post-48220838495035895942007-07-02T11:17:00.000-07:002007-07-02T11:17:00.000-07:00COCHABAMBA 444?DO THEY HAVE COOKIES?COCHABAMBA 444?

DO THEY HAVE COOKIES?COOKIE MONSTERhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09579568346600701545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23522785.post-71753875338202126382007-07-02T08:39:00.000-07:002007-07-02T08:39:00.000-07:00AHH, MORE COOKIE EATERS.
